This book explores a central issue in aesthetics: the debate between the rival aesthetics of perfection and imperfection. The aesthetics of imperfection emphasises spontaneity, disruption, process and energy over formal perfection. For many commentators, imperfection is experienced most clearly in improvisatory practices.
